Steve Jones started his playing career in 1984 at the age of 9, joining Bream Silver Band in the Royal Forest Of Dean under the tutelage of local drummer Dave Rudge. He then moved to Coleford Town Band for three years before being approached by Flowers Band in 1989.
Steve spent twenty one years at Flowers winning eight West of England Championship titles
and claiming the Grand Shield three times. In 2010 he decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved to Tredegar Town Band in Wales for a year before joining the worlds No 1 ranked band Cory. In the two years that followed Steve performed in many concerts and broadcasts at home and in Europe and a two week concert tour of Australia. In 2013, he was part of the team at Cory that won both the coveted European and National Brass Band Championships, narrowly missing out on a grand slam of titles by claiming the runner up spot at that years British Open and World Championships. In 2015 Steve toured to Australia again, this time with the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
He is now a freelance tutor of drums and percussion and performs with many different ensembles throughout the UK.
